Community Spirit–March 2025
Ryan Ruggles, District Administrator
Mid-Winter Planning and Updates
In education, every season brings its own unique focus, list of things to do, and opportunities for growth and improvement. Behind the scenes, our school administrators are hard at work adjusting current budgets, schedules, and classroom/intervention planning to make sure the academic year runs smoothly and that we are meeting the needs of our students. Likewise, we are already planning budgets, staffing, and curriculum for the following year.
Looking into next year, we are having conversations around finding efficiencies in our budget and scheduling. Making sure we maintain rigor and high standards in our classrooms, while being creative with our scheduling and building support for our staff. Also in the works for next year is evaluating our STEAM (Science Technology Education Art and Math) resources. A priority of the STEAM planning is supporting our K-12 math and science teachers and students with high quality resources. Additionally, we are looking for ways to expand our coding opportunities for our students and exploring some virtual options for the district.
Meanwhile, our winter sports season is in full swing with some of the sports winding down, as our spring season quickly approaches. We are proud of how our winter season student-athletes have represented Amherst and congratulate them on their seasons. There is a short turnaround before our spring season starts, and those programs are diligently preparing for their start. We know our coaches and athletes will be ready; now we just hope the spring weather will cooperate!
Overall, the winter season also provides a chance to embrace the unique qualities of the season. From outdoor activities such as the ice fish club to creative lessons or classroom projects and themed school events, the winter season offers students and staff a chance to connect and make the most of the Wisconsin winter months.
As always, thank you for your partnerships, your kindness, your positivity, and for your support of our schools! We are better together.
