Celebrating our Success and Embracing the Future: Building Projects, Strategic Planning, and 2024

The start of a new year symbolizes an opportunity for growth, progress, and positive change. It is also a time to reflect upon all of the great things that are happening in our school district and community. As we start 2024, we are proud of the accomplishments of our students, staff and community. While we have some amazing accomplishments and great things happening, our goal remains to be one of the best school districts in the state. With that being said, 2024 is going to be a busy and exciting year for the School District of the Tomorrow River!

This spring and summer, we will see the final phase of our current building referendum project move forward to completion. There has been a considerable amount of progress made on the new STEAM addition, and when the new addition opens in the fall of 2024, it will provide even more opportunities for our students. This winter and spring, the staff will prepare for the summer construction and have some curricular and classroom conversations on best practices and how to best utilize the new spaces. The significance of passing the building referendum is not lost on our staff and we appreciate the community’s continued dedication to providing a strong foundation and updated facilities for our students and families.

This past year, the district updated our current mission and vision statements, as well as the pillars of our strategic plan. As we navigate the path forward, we are creating a student profile (Profile of a Graduate) and we will start conversions around identifying metrics to use for district wide improvement. This work will take us into the summer and help us set the educational landscape for the future.

The start of the new year is a good reminder and comparison to the rapidly changing landscape and role of technology in our schools. Technological advancements continue to redefine the way we live, work, connect with one another, and it continues to have a major impact on our schools. From the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) to the increasing integration of smart technologies in our daily lives, the new year celebration is an opportunity for us to talk about the transformative power of technology in education. As a district, we will be having many conversations around instructional technology, cyber security, and how to teach balance to our students.

As the new year dawns, our community is faced with the task of replacing an expiring operating referendum this spring. This operating referendum has long supported ongoing operational expenses, and is crucial for maintaining the quality of education, opportunity, and infrastructure in Tomorrow River Schools. The new year will bring conversations on maintaining our progress and how best to secure the necessary resources for the continued success of our schools. By addressing the necessity of replacing the expiring operating referendum, we ensure that we remain a destination school district and community for families and staff.

In conclusion, as we celebrate the new year, it is a collective commitment to building a better future through building/facility projects, strategic planning, technological innovation, and the renewal of an expiring operating referendum. As we embrace the opportunities and challenges that the new year brings, let us approach the future of Tomorrow River Schools with intentionality, resilience, and a shared dedication to progress. 2023 was a great year and 2024 will be an even better year. Go Falcons!
