Principal's Message
Thank you for visiting the Amherst Middle School webpage! Our middle school is a 5-8 community located in a K-12 building in beautiful Amherst, Wisconsin. We enroll approximately 275 students and use a team-based approach to ensure a quality education for all students. Our mission at the middle school is to “nurture and educate students to be knowledgeable, civic minded, prepared to make ethical decisions, confident, competent communicators, skillful in problem solving, capable of creative thinking, career path minded, and possess the skills to succeed in a multicultural global society.” Our dedicated staff work to help students meet these goals as they prepare for life in high school and beyond.
We offer a range of classes and activities designed to build independence and interdependence in students. During early adolescence, children explore their identities, and we provide a variety of experiences and activities to allow them to develop and take safe steps toward young adulthood. We engage students in a robust values-based curriculum that helps them to grow into productive and engaged citizens, and reward students for positive behavior and for their excellence.
I want to personally encourage students at our school to show responsibility, to be respectful, to show integrity, and to be dedicated to excellence in all areas. These are skills and character traits that will take you far in life and help you to reach your goals!
Families, I welcome your engagement, communication about, and participation in your child’s education. Please connect with me or your child’s teachers with any questions, concerns, kudos, or offers of assistance. By working together, we can strive to make the middle school experience a positive one for all students, all the time.
