LOCAL HISTORY

Our local historians tell us that hundreds of years before the first Europeans arrived, Woodland Tribes of Native Americans had already recognized the lands encompassed in this school district as the transition point between two major watersheds — one flowing to the Mississippi River, the other flowing to the Great Lakes. For this reason, these early inhabitants named the area’s principal waterway the “Tomorrow”, signifying that one day’s journey in either direction could eventually lead travelers to an entirely different world.

LOCATION

In these current times, Hwy 10 serves a similar purpose as our school district is located in the village of Amherst, which is only ten minutes from Waupaca to the east and ten minutes from Stevens Point to the west, and an easy 45 minute drive to Appleton. We have a strong rural heritage that is the backbone of the community and is a continued source of pride. In addition, our rural location along beautiful waterways continues to be alluring to ‘settlers’.

OUR SCHOOL

Here at the School District of the Tomorrow River, we pride ourselves on a quality child-centered education. With a 4K-12 student population of approximately 1000 students, supported by 78 teachers, 51 support staff, and three administrators, we are able to provide children and their families with personalized service. Your child and family are more than a number to us, you are part of our extended family.
